The work
Decoder

Unfolding one document at a time.

A browser companion for dense documents. Right-click a contract, a policy, a lease, a terms of service. Decoder marks what to notice, explains what it means, and stops there.

What it is

Decoder reads a document the way a patient friend would. It does not summarise. It does not replace reading. It marks the places that matter and writes a plain-language note next to each, so you can read the original with better eyes.

The marks it leaves

Standard

Normal for this kind of document. Nothing to worry about.

Notice

Worth reading carefully. Understand before you sign.

Consequence

A meaningful commitment or cost. Slow down here.

Ambiguous

Could mean more than one thing. May need context from you.

What it will not do

Decoder is not a lawyer. It will not tell you to sign, not to sign, or what to negotiate. When a clause is serious, it will say so, and it will explain why. The choice stays with you.

Status

Safari extension in prototype.

Chrome and Firefox to follow.
